I went back to a wood that I used to play in as a child. I think this is where I get my love of walking from, especially through woods as I enjoyed many happy hours here birdwatching, climbing trees, making dens and paddling in the stream.
The stream is still a shade of ochre that comes from the old mines in the area. You can still see evidence of the old pits in the area as there are circular hollows in the ground.
It is a beautiful woodland. You can either do short circular walks or longer ones with lots of wildlife to see.
A lovely walk to reminisce of those stress free childhood days.

Great old trees. From a layout standpoint, I'd have led with that next to the last shot. The way the trunk seems to fold, like heavy fabric is visually intriguing. I'd also have cropped in closer to the roots of the tree in that first image.
Full disclosure: I have 25+ years of experience as a graphic designer, primarily in print magazine and newspaper production.
NOTE: That tree with the folded look would make an outstanding monochrome image.
