Tree Tuesday!

in treetuesday •  6 years ago

@kimmysomelove42 just made a post for Tree Tuesday, and I love that idea! Here's my fruit trees that I pruned on #treetuesday today:

Today was my first foray into tree pruning. @bobydimitrov has been talking with me about it and recommending resources, as I'm a bit scared of pruning. Afraid I'll mess something up. Wondering if I should trim that long branch on the first peach tree... It looks off balance.

Be blessed.
Be fruitful.
Stay relevant.

Nate.

ah, amazing - you've discovered Tree Tuesday! He he...

Great to see those babies planted, may they bear you tons of fruit!

I'd be happy with pounds, but tons would be out of this world :)

Gah. I love trees.

How did I not know about Tree Tuesday before? Lol

my mom has citrus trees - Valencia orange- dwarf lemon - and lime trees

Nice! I'm told citrus won't grow here, but I'm wondering if I can find some cold hardy varieties to grow...

I have a friend who has three citrus trees up here in NW Oregon! She keeps them in a greenhouse in the winter and moves them outside in the summer. They are in large pots. They produce a lot of fruit considering how small the trees are. And you should smell the greenhouse when they're in bloom. The orange blossoms are out of this world! I don't have a greenhouse yet, but when I do...

Quick! Make a green house!

I would do it now but it's still mostly dark.

Yay! Birthday trees in the ground. :))

Woo! Peach cobbler and apple pie next year!

Happy little trees! I'm scared of pruning too. I'm never sure which is worse, pruning too much or not enough.

Hopefully they're happy! I'm just afraid of doing some irreparable damage lol but @bobydimitrov is so nonchalant about it and recommended a book! Of course, I'm gonna get the book and read it after I've started cutting lol

Of course! What's the book? We have a bunch of really old fruit trees which weren't properly pruned and I need to learn how to do it without killing them.

Dis wun!

From the sound of the book, it's gonna be a good read!

I might have to order one of those myself!

Leave me one! I'm ordering this weekend.

When you prune, always remember - it will grow back lol

Just wanted to let you know about this little garden initiative I started.

If you have time, drop a post.

A small orchard in the making nice to see. Wish I had the space to do my own. I am looking at doing a few in pots maybe 💯🐒

I've heard it's feasible to cultivate dwarf fruit trees in large pots. Would be a fun project! A balcony orchard :)

This is my plan I have a few seeds planted although nothing showing yet. I'll pot them when they grow and hope to post. Then when I move I can take them with me 💯🐒

Do you like cooking with beer? Try it with a Vienna lager next time.
