Stronger tremors hit Turkey and there have been about 285 aftershocks recorded so far after a powerful earthquake killed thousands of people and injured many more.

According to the US Geological Study, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck the East coast of the country at 7:10 am (UK time) this morning. Just half an hour ago, a magnitude 4.5 aftershock was recorded.

At least 14 major earthquakes and about 285 aftershocks have occurred in the region since midnight. (Sky)
