The global workforce does not have the skills companies need to fill jobs. The Oxford Economics Workforce 2020 study concluded that two-thirds of firms surveyed have made very little progress in building a workforce capable of meeting their business objectives. PwC's annual reports also show how business leaders are more concerned than ever about finding the right people to fill the positions they require.
The gap between the skills of today's workers and those businesses need to meet their growth plans is widening.
What do you do to try to reduce it? Businesses must move away from the idea that new skills mean new people. Since PwC point out that the most successful organizations combine recruitment with the development of their own people, so that they are more adaptable to their changing plans.
