The R&B Artist You Have Heard of, but Haven't | Music Daily

If you miss the summer vibes of 2009 with its amazing and captivating R&B beat with a note of Soul then look no further. Influences of Akon, Ne-Yo, and Chris Brown have been the driving force in the new career of an artist by the name of 6LACK.

Ricardo Valdez Valentine "6LACK" grew up in Atlanta being influenced by the nation's top R&B and Rap Artists. Backed by Interscope Records in 2016 we start to hear his music at the forefront of today's underground culture. Ricardo's dazed slow jam style brings a concept unseen to the music scene, until now.

After leaving Valdosta State University in 2011, Valentine started to produce this new age style of music to SoundCloud. After signing with Interscope Records several years later we hear his debut studio album "FREE 6LACK" which peaked 34 on the Billboard 200 chart.

This first song on this 11 song track list, we're introduced to an agry and aggressive beat with slow and meticulous lyrics. We see his impatience with his last label by the lines "Old label wasn't talking 'bout nothing, meanwhile, I'm getting ready for a run." the amount of pain and hostility within this line shows the resentment within 6LACK. Throughout the song, we hear Ricardo point towards "right hooks and left hooks" showing that he is fed up with what is going on between his management and music career.

Track #3 by the title of "PRBLMS" is the bread and butter of this album. Totaling 30,000,000 views on youtube after being played on Kylie Jenner's snapchat story this song blew up 300x the original amount of plays. PRBLMS is possibly the slowest song on this track list but has the most plays of all the other combined showing that the fans of 6LACK are ride and die for his slow melodic feel and vibes.

"Learn Ya" brings the listener through a story of his past girlfriend's mistakes at the same time measuring his weight and fault in this relationship. Valentine touches on his soon to be baby's future and the uncertainty 6LACK portrays through his voice is felt on warm ears.

"Luving U" is slow but has a catchy snare and base to really capture the audience's attention when listening. We hear the crumbling of his voice as he describes "losing myself loving you".

6LACK leaves us off with the track titled "Alone". Which is what he ultimately describes in this song. Showing the pressures of others on how he makes music as a creator and producer. "Everybody got something to say", "Everybody got their own opinion" shows truly how Valentine feels about the people who surround him.

6LACK is at the forefront of Rap and R&B with his slow melodic tunes and mesmerizing lyrics. If you haven't heard this man's music, then I suggest you change that now. You can find him on Soundcloud, Itunes, and Spotify.
