I put an ad on Craigslist and an ad on Freecycle to get rid of my mother's and my books that I have been dragging around for 16 years. I got about 50 responses! What to do? Take the first one?

I scrolled through all the texts and emails and listened to all of the messages... and this one woman, Rachel touched my heart.

I made an arrangement with her for Saturday at noon. She said she would take all the books. I sent an email out to the other 49 people letting them know that if she didn't show up - I would contact them.

Rachel's husband Mike showed up at noon. We had a snow-day today. He came with a dolly and some boxes and tape. What a nice guy! It got better when he told me they are building an off-grid house in Pagosa Springs!

He told me that they are downsizing, except for books. They have 2 children. They are transplants, but have been here for as long as I have - 14 years. They want to get out of boomtown, too! But are biding their time saving money and building their house.

I watched Mike lovingly pack the books - about 8 boxes, and then he gave me a hug! I was amazed that I could have a real human experience from an interchange on text and Craigslist. I felt good about the books going to such a good home.

In the meantime, I have received several calls from William...

He still hates me and says I will be "served" an eviction notice and will be supoena'd to appear in court January 6 ???

Hogwash!!!

He called later to tell me that it's my fault that Joe is out in the cold tonight... says he's getting out Monday morning...

I press on...

My goal is to have all the pots, pans, and silverware in my room neatly where I can get to them, but he cannot, by tomorrow afternoon. I don't know what he would do with them right now.

I gave away a drafting set, a box of linens, a set of sheets, and 2 bookshelves to my neighbor just now, plus some old silverware. I am drained.
