The ringed-tailed mongoose is a carnivore endemic to Madagascar. It measures about 38cm and weighs between 700 and 900 g. Its tail can reach 30cm long. It inhabits humid and dry forests up to 2000m of altitude. It eats small mammals, insects, reptiles and fish. It can live about 20 years.
