We went here on Sunday, it was really packed. The museum collection is very good and a ticket to see it is only 500 yen. The ticket for the special exhibition (including the permanent collection is 1,600 yen, so a big difference.
If you've never been to this museum before, I recommend just the permanent collection. The exhibition we saw was on the 60th anniversary of the museum and they had lots of art from their vaults etc. but also from the permanent collection.
The exhibition and the permanent collection both have art from the renaissance to the twentieth century.
There was one more exhibition, which was free at the museum, called "Modern Women" Finnish 19th and 20th century female painters. Some good some bad, but certainly worth seeing.
