At the time, I noted that it would be nice if the media would stop lying about everything Trump says or does.
7 years later, this is still a massive problem, and as I said as far back as 2015, the more journalists act hysterical and fail to do the most fundamental aspect of their job (tell the truth), the more Trump's supporters have every right to assume that whatever the media is saying about him is some form of a lie. That assumption is normally right, and the consequence of the media's incessant hyperbole and misinformation did not hurt Trump so much as it hurt their credibility.
Plenty of folks who were undecided were pushed to become Trump voters by this kind of dishonest bias in the press. I see no indication that anyone in media has figured this out, unfortunately.
