Remember, fascists don't lie in order to get regular people to believe the lies they tell.

Fascists want you to know that they are lying. They want you to know that they know that you know they're lying. They are brazen about it. Over the top. They want to inhibit your ability to trust information from any source, but position themselves as the person who told you that you can't trust anything. And they want you to see them getting away with lying. With unapologetic ridiculous lying.

Him getting away with lying is a form of "dominance" that makes the pupils of trump supporters dilate.

The issue here isn't at all that he's too stupid to know that the image is obviously fake. The issue here is that caring about whether or not people think he's telling the truth is simply not a part of his character or personality in the least. Because until earlier this week, he had literally never faced a negative consequence for lying in his entire life.

He doesn't have to be smart in order to be good at this. These kinds of instincts just carve out a certain path to power for some men of completely degenerate character. He's reaped rewards from this kind of behaviour his entire life, and he doesn't have to understand why it works anymore than very young children have to understand why sometimes tantrums work.
