“These midterm elections have made it crystal clear that voters want to move past the chaos and dishonor of the 45th president. They want the security and sanity that a competent and effective leader can provide. The Republican Party needs to recognize that, too, and act accordingly.” – today’s Washington Examiner editorial
Even when Donald Trump has been right on the issues – and there have been such times – his personally vicious style of attacking Republicans as well as Democrats, long-time friends as well as recent foes, is ugly, divisive, immature, and toxic to American political life. The man has not grown or learned from his mistakes. Instead, he has shrunk to a smaller, meaner, and more vindictive version of his former self.
It’s time for Republican Party leaders to stand up to Trump. If they can’t find a mutually acceptable way for him to quietly pack up his tent and go back to his golf course, then perhaps they should rally together and loudly tell the Don to go f**k himself!
