Happy New Year, especially to 4.5 million low-wage workers who will get more pay starting today because their states raised their state minimum wage.
Instead of giving tax cuts to the rich, Republicans in Washington should raise the federal minimum wage -- still stuck at $7.25 an hour. Trickle-down economics doesn't create more jobs because the rich spend only a fraction of their incomes. Rising-up economics creates more jobs because the poor spend just about all of theirs.
