What's funny in all this (assuming the indictment is based on the hush money payments to Daniels and McDougal) is that Trump ironically had more regard for evangelical voters than they have actually displayed over the last 8 years. There is no moral depravity they won't ignore for their political gains.
This may explain the delay with the Manhattan DA's case. Karen McDougal was also alleging an affair with Trump before the 2016 election. At the request of Donald Trump, National Enquirer bought the rights to her story and didn't publish it in an effort to "catch and kill" it for Trump. Pecker, the former publisher of National Enquirer, testified to the grand jury last week. He'd presumably back up Cohen's testimony about Trump's efforts to suppress these affairs before the election.
Pecker was given immunity by federal prosecutors in an earlier plea deal surrounding these events. His cooperation helped the prosecution of Cohen.
