Trust in the Lord: But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish. Psalm 9:18

The Book of Psalms shows us God as the source of all perfections, God is wise, merciful, righteous, benevolent; and if we are sensible people, that is, people who fear God, in him we must put all our trust. For this reason, the true spirituality consists in resembling him, our creator, as much as possible, and in developing in us all his perfections, that is, his spiritual gifts. This is the most profound message of all the sapiential books of the Bible (Proverbs, Wisdom, Ecclesiastes, Ben Sira), and especially the Book of Psalms. In other words, the fulfillment of man is to be wise as God is wise.
The Psalm 9 is a resume of all this, the Psalm begins by praising the Lord:
"I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds" Psalm 9:1.
God is also perfect, eternal, and the source of all justice and righteousness explains to us the Psalm:
"The LORD reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment.
He rules the world in righteousness
and judges the peoples with equity" Psalm 9:7-8.
The Psalms show us the true essence of God, God is not an idol that can be venerated, but a pure being that can only be worshiped with all our soul and all our heart, as Moses taught when he gave the law to the Israelites: "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength" Deuteronomy 6:5.
As a reminder of Psalm 1, the Psalm of the two ways, the Lord rewards each person according to his conduct, in this life and in the life hereafter, the Lord in his eternal wisdom humbles the proud and lifts up the lowly:
"The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug;
their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The LORD is known by his acts of justice;
the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
all the nations that forget God.
But God will never forget the needy;
the hope of the afflicted will never perish" Psalm 9:15-18.
