It was inevitable that we would get hoards of people who saw that rhetoric as an opportunity to play dumb and humble in one breath while still refusing to recuse themselves from the debate. This is how we get into conversations like, "I'm not a biologist. Are you a biologist? No? Well, neither of us knows what a woman is. I'm just humble enough to wait and listen to a biologist who will tell me what I want to hear. Now let me teach you that trans-women are women and prep my sign for the Women's March."
If these people were consistent at all, they would shut up about everything but their devotion to supporting whoever has the highest credential in the relevant field of study says.
We all know that these people haven't decided to shut up. We all know that their feigned humility is just arrogance.
Do you think a single one of these people would recuse him or herself from a debate on gun control because he or she isn't a ballistics expert and has probably never fired a gun?
Of course not.
Are any of them gonna shut up about abortion policy because they're not biologists or OBGYNs?
Of course not.
This "Trust the science" thing is a massive lie. It's a way for people who are stupid and arrogant to pretend to be smart and humble. It's just a way to complicate the obvious to justify authoritarian behaviour.
This coordinated manipulation is the only way that the lockdowners could justify the bullshit.
Once the science was clear that the virus doesn't like sunlight, and it's almost completely non-lethal to people who are healthy, and the Faucist solution was to order us to stay out of the sun and not exercise and basically live like the Unabomber for a year, it didn't take a scientist to smell the bullshit. You just needed a functioning brain and a basic understanding of how logic works.
But, a lot of white collar leftists who weren't seeing their bank accounts draining, and liked the expansion of the government, and loved the idea of the state sending out checks to everybody, wanted this to keep going. So, logic be damned. Your own functioning brain be damned. We have our lord and savior Anthony Fauci to tell you that you wanna kill grandma because you wanted to see a movie.
I do have a reverence for science. I fucking love science enough that I fucking hate I Fucking Love Science.
Science isn't a bunch of enlightened people circle jerking each other over their brilliant ideas that they get to perfectly pass on to us plebeians.
Science is a process.
If you really wanna trust the science, take it to mean the same thing as the head coach of my Buffalo Bills saying, "Trust the process."
Don't take it to mean that you should just trust the man in charge. Hell, you shouldn't even trust the process to the point that you would never question it.
Still, if you take anything from this rant, it's simply this -- stop selling yourself to the lies.
