Life is a game of trial and error. We are experimenting every moment and receiving the feedback too. As a human nature we trust people easily with whom we bond and vice versa. We make friends on the same principle.
What is trust?
Trust means firm belief in the truth or ability of someone or something. We have faith in oneself, others and machines. Ironically, we believe in machines more than oneself because it is less prone to error like us. We train machines but not our organ to function better or even try to understand its workings. Have you ever thought, how much time do you need to consider the trustworthiness of a person? Think of a number may be a minute or a second. Scientist found that amygdala an area of the brain associated with decision making, makes a judgment of trustworthiness in a mere 33 milliseconds. That’s the quickness of our brain.
Trust has a positive expectation. It is everywhere. You have confidence in my write ups that they are good, and you get to learn something new every day. Else you wouldn’t be reading them on the 47th day. Most of the business transactions that people do are based on trust. Companies have loyal customers because the buyers have assurance in the quality of the product. You buy the goods you like and trust. Let it be your mobile phone, the clothes, the food items and more.
You might have heard of Amazon Go, the partially automated store, with customers able to purchase without being checked out by a cashier. However, they are using technology to track your every moment in the store. Do you know of any fully automated shops without shopkeepers and monitoring? You would be amused to know that such stall exists in the North Eastern state of India, Mizoram. Along the highway in Seling, about 65 kilometers away from the capital Aizawl, one can come across such outlets. You can find fruits and vegetables. The prices are mentioned in the boards. In case you don’t have the change, you can pick up the change from the money box, which says pawisa bawm or pawisa dahna. What makes the famers happy is that the customers never fail them. Farmers cannot afford to handle the customers as they need to be in the farmlands. Trust plays a significant role else they couldn't have continued.
To quote George MacDonald ,“To be trusted is a better compliment than being loved”
