Amazon launches 'try before you buy' Prime Wardrobe, takes on brick and mortar grocery store Whole Foods

Amazon has recently expanded its service and market share. Amazon Prime recently unveiled a new Try Before You Buy clothing service. This competes directly with monthly subscription boxes, like Stitch Fix, and others. These are very popular with millennials and Amazon wants a piece of the pie.

I have Prime already just for the 2-day shipping and free movie rentals. This really adds to the ease of shopping clothes online and also competes further with brick and mortar retail. Retail stores have benefited in the recent past from customers preferring to try on clothes before buying them. But companies are making it easier to get what you want, when you want it.

This is just another example of the function of the free market, where the consumer is king. No authority was needed to determine what services to offer or how to offer them. It would be a nightmare if the government was in charge of fashion. Think drab. Let's be thankful for the small amount of capitalism we have left. Even with mountains of regulations and taxes, entrepreneurial companies can still meet the needs and wants of the masses.

Amazon has also announced the purchase of Whole Foods Market, a grocery store chain. They are directly taking on Wal-Mart and others. Wal-Mart has almost missed the train on online sales. People prefer the ease, prices, and to your door shipping of Amazon, to navigating the acres of retail buildings. Besides, you also run into those 'People of Wal-Mart' people. The future is exciting for Amazon. Will we start getting groceries delivered by drone? We can only hope!
