Our third stop was at the Yeshua Child Care Center. Papillon basically delivers the same support here as at the Kiddies Paradise Center and there is very little difference in the children that they look after. At each place the children welcomed Lady Corinne with song and dance and of course Papillon took gifts and sweets along. One little guy has the habit to wait until he can get to me and then with his two little feet on my shoe and his arms wrapped around my leg, I have to walk around with him for the rest of the visit. They are tiny and oh, so sweet.
Tears are the normal response from people that we take for a visit and Lady Corinne was no exception, but tears are not going to help the little people. As I said before, 16 years we have been doing this and those that were tots at the start are now young adults. Only a very few have remained to help at the centers and the rest have disappeared. Not that it worries us in the least, as they have received a good foundation and we can only trust, like any parent does, that they will make a good way in life for themselves. It is the start that we give them that counts. If this start consists of love, acceptance, respect and education, then what better start can anyone give them?
In saying this, many of the children are also traumatized due to the violent nature of our society and to overcome this, Papillon has partnered with a wonderful professional lady that offers free and accredited trauma training for the child handlers. This is yet another one of the Papillon projects that delivers great successes, but more about this trauma training project later.
