Oh boy. Now we get a new moral panic in which conservatives claim that critical race theory is racist, but replacement theory is not.
In case you're not familiar, replacement "theory" is basically a conspiracy theory. It involves believing that white people, sometimes specifically white Christians, are the victims of a concerted effort to make them a permanent minority in America due to declining birth rates while people of other races, especially immigrants, literally out-reproduce them.
Sometimes the claim is also that this effort is intended to strengthen the Democrat voter base. That's what Carlson claimed: "Well, Joe Biden just said it: to change the racial mix of the country. That’s the reason. To reduce the political power of people whose ancestors lived here and dramatically increase the proportion of Americans newly arrived from the Third World."
Of course, that's not what Biden actually said at all. But when did facts ever get in Carlson's way?
And now Matt Gaetz is openly endorsing this racist conspiracy theory too.
