Making the Cut Episode 4 Recap and Thoughts

in tv •  5 years ago

Making the Cut Episode 4 is here and I have to say I'm not happy with what happened in this episode. This was a total departure from what this show has been all season long and while I agree with the results, was unfair to our designers.

Tim decided he wanted to see our contestants fight for their lives and decided to do a one day design challenge. The designers had seven hours and no access to seamstresses or new fabric. The whole point of this show was to focus on the designing and that was not what happened today. I've always appreciated that there wasn't a huge time crunch on this show and that our designers were typically asked to just focus on designing. Tsk, tsk Tim Gunn!

We saw two designers head home during this episode, Troy and Will. Both have struggled this season and I fully agree with both of them being sent home. Troy totally failed on his design today and what he described in the work room was not even close to what he sent down the runway. Will's look was a total mess and didn't represent what he wants to be as a designer. Both are gone and I think it was the right choice.

The top looks today belonged to Megan and Jonny. I did not agree with this at all. Megans look was very generic and I feel like you can definitely buy her top an any normal department store. Jonny's look was well designed but I thought it was poorly executed. The stripes looked like a mess and I was shocked by how much the judges loved his look. Jonny is the winner and the can buy his look on Amazon right now.
