They are called the Portuguese Man a War here in Texas. See them at times washed up on our beaches. Ran over one once while riding an ATV on beach and its slime went in my eye. Very very painful. Almost as bad as the Mace that was shot in my eyes at a nightclub parking lot across the border in Louisiana one night.
