Finished part one of season four with the rest coming out in July and this might be the best season.
A lot of people loved season three, but I also saw a decent amount of people dislike it online.
I really enjoyed it, but if I had any complaint to it, it’d be the word “safe”.
In the first two seasons, they created a world with a lot of mystery and questions the audience was asking.
Season three while creating a fun story didn’t really answer any of those and sort of made the world feel like a pretty straightforward story, instead of expanding on the initial mystery.
This season so far has done a 180 on it, where questions since season have been fully answered and it turned the “Upside Down” world they created into again a threat which feels like it’s own character.
There are also twists to this story, which I wouldn’t have guessed and keep engaging as they reveal.
My only complaint so far, if this is even one is how separated the stories are.
In the first three seasons, they follow a similar format, which is different groups breaking off over a common problem and solving their own piece to it, only to come together in the final episodes.
All of those stories still taking place mainly in Hawkins Indiana and solving the same problem.
This season really has four separate stories which take place in very different locations, which are leading to everyone coming together, but so divided and so big of stories, it gets a little tough to keep track.
For the four stories, I don’t want to spoil it, but three of the plots are amazing, all doing something very different and almost being a different type of show in a good way.
Plot four, which so far is the most ignored one feels a little lacking, but maybe they fix it in the final two episodes.
That said though, this was a three year wait and is delivering a bigger franchise, which after the show ends in season five, I think will have an amazing spin-off and build something where in 30 years, there’s still projects related to this.
