Selling Sunset on Netflix: This is not for me

I think that this type of show kind of falls in like with the type of show like Kardashians or Real Housewives, and I never enjoyed either of those and didn't really understand their popularity. There seems to be a certain demographic out there that enjoys seeing people act really petty and complain about luxuries that the rest of us would be extremely happy to even be able to try for a little while.

Selling Sunset is, in my opinion, just like those shows in which is shows extreme opulence and people having demand that us people in steerage can only dream of.

So the entire story is these group of quite attractive real-estate agents that deal with the selling properties in the Hollywood Hills and other extremely expensive neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The industry is extremely competitive (a phrase they use constantly) and also cut-throat (also an overused word.) Therefore these women have to stay on top of their game and engage in devious tactics towards everyone else in the industry, including towards one-another.

Their catty and underhanded way in which they deal with almost everyone is irritating but I suppose it is understandable that in an extremely competitive and cut-throat industry (oh no! They got me saying it) it is understandable that you gotta do some pretty messed up stuff to get a leg up (urgh) on the competition.

I get annoyed at the way that they are constantly fussing and this is probably the very reason WHY a lot of people actually DO like this kind of entertainment. It is like a really classy Jerry Springer episode that is hours and hours long, only instead of having really low-class and generally poor people on the show, they have very wealthy people that despite being rich, come across as being just as low-class.

If you are feeling at all self-conscious about where it is that you personally happen to live this might not be the best show for you to watch either because the level of majestic wealth that is unobtainable by most of us and likely even beyond the means of most celebrities will make you very envious and probably force to you into depression - especially if you are on lockdown in some crappy little apartment like so many of my friends actually are right now.

I suppose I can understand why some people would like this sort of thing but there really isn't anything creative going on in this show - it is basically a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous but with a bunch of very attractive yet snotty women constantly backstabing one another. I only managed to make it thought a couple of episodes but it must be popular enough, because there are already 2 seasons of it and it's currently on the table about making a 3rd.

Should I watch it?

If you are the type of person that enjoys dramatic and snotty reality TV with a whole lot of things that you will never own mixed in, then perhaps you should! However, I think that most people would probably tire of the rather repetitive "frenemies" theme very quickly.

I think i threw up a little bit just watching that trailer. There is no way I could stay interested in this :)

lol, I only watched it because of the fact that they did a pretty good job on the trailer. Unfortunately, that is the only time the show moves at a decent pace. This was tough for me to watch even 2 episodes of, which is what I will normally do before giving up on a series.
