in twelvequestions •  7 years ago

A very big THANK YOU to @joetunex for inviting me to participate in this amazing #12QuestionsChallenge which was initiated by @hobotang. I love such challenges that tend to shine a light on getting to know people on a deeper level.

I remember participating in @snowpea's #LoveitShoveit Challenge afew weeks ago and I had a ball with it. It is always such a great experience , in a way it helps you to truly reflect on yourself and your life in general. Ponder further on where your true values & virtues lie.

On that note, the #12QuestionsChallenge is just as the name suggests, there are 12 questions for me to reply to in a bid to help you guys get to know me as well as those who are participating further.

Here we go..

1. What 3 meals would you have before heading to the International Space Station?

Not that I ever see myself ever heading there. But should an opportunity miraculously present itself, It would feel like a punishment having to choose only 3 meals out of all the thousands of meals available around the world! That would also mean I'd by then have conquered my fear of heights so yaaay to me :)

But if I really, really,REALLY had to choose, I'd go with this 3. It was such a tough choice as I am the ultimate #Foodie which is something I haven't had the opportunity to express in this platform yet. Maybe in the near future when the right time presents itself, I'll look into it. Like I said, I am quite the diverse kind of girl..

Local Food..

Pilau

This is a popular loca cuisine in my country. We call it Pilau & it's basicall rice & some fried meat. It can be any kind of meet so say you wanted to have beef, then that would make it Pilau Beef or Pilau Mutton or Chicken Pilau etc. Culturally, we serve it with a side of salsa or guacamole & a ripe banana :)

You'd have to be Kenya to appreciate that combination. It's never a complete experience without any of it.

Ugali Choma+ Kachumbari

Lol. I'm smiling because I can already envision the reaction on some peoples faces just by reading those two words. Some of you might not even be able to pronounce that name but not to worry, I am here to elaborate.

Ugali is Kenya's staple food which is basically a mixture of grounded corn flour with some boiled water, technically you cook this mixture on medium heat for 10-15 minutes while turning it occasionally to allow for even cooking.
Nyama means meat. Choma means Roasted. Hence Nyama Choma is roasted meat :)
Kachumbari is Swahili name for salsa or guacamole.

A combination of this 3 is just the ultimate feast in the mouth. I thank God I'm writing this after a hefty dinner otherwise I'd be dying slowly of salivating. It's never a Kenyan Feast/Celebration without Nyama Choma!

Potatoes-Sauteed, Fried,Grilled -Whatsoever

Where I come from, we have 43 tribes. Each is popular for one or the other and each has a staple food for it's community. I grew up eating lots of potatoes cooked in all sorts of manner. So my appreciation for the product is rooted way down from my childhood. I could eat potatoes day & night and never tire of them. I don't think a week would ever pass without me indulging in them atleast thrice. That's how deep the love goes.

Dessert.

Grilled Cinnamon Pineapples

Ofcourse a meal is never complete without dessert is it? Since I would be going to Space for sometime, I think it would call for my favorite dessert as of this year.

2.What section of the newspaper would you be?

Inspiration. I enjoy reading other peoples stories on how they have conquered all odds to be where they currently are. There's nothing that can surpass giving people hope and uplifting those who are down trodden for me,there's humanity in showing compassion in whichever capacity one can.

3. If you were immortal, what age would you choose to stop aging at and why?

I fail to understand why one would even want to be immortal. Truth be told, I am kind of curious to know what happens upon death. Noone really knows until it actually happen to you. So that's an experience I wouldn't want to miss.

But if I really had to choose, I'd say 30. Life begins at 40 so they say, but 10 years prior wouldn't a bad thing either.

4. What sport would you compete in, if you were in the Olympics?

Bed-minton? LMAO XD

I hate sports & any form of physical exercise. I have never liked it since my childhood. I remember in high school I'd mostly hide in order not to attend P.E classes & would inturn face the consequences & wrath of our trainer. Thank God there's no P.E in the real world!

5.If you had to go back in time to live the rest of your life where/when would you go?

Some of these questions are torture. An entire universe & I only get to choose one place?Wow. Kill me NOW!

I think I would prefer globe trotting for the rest of my life. But Spend my last year in a place like Bora Bora Islands.

6. If time and money were no barrier what would you create?

This is a hard one. I would create a world without Global Warming & Strive to Strike out World Hunger. Oh, and definitely do away with War. In short create world peace.

7.Have you ever completed anything on your bucket list?

Yes. Yes. I randomly travelled to a unknown country by myself for 2 months . Guess what? I Survived it. Kind of feel like such a badass just thinking about it. Oh how I miss that girl.

8. What would be the most surprising scientific discovery imaginable?

Cure for Ebola , Cancer,HIV/AIDS.

9.Are you a good witch or bad witch?

God Forbid I should be any kind of witch. Where I come from we don't joke about witchcraft- It's real lol

But if we are metaphorically speaking, Good Witch it is. Sort of reminds me of that Series #Goodwitch, love it. No matter your situation, you always have an opportunity to do good in the world, it's all a matter of choice.

10. If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?

It would be a lesson on being true to yourself, who you are andbeing firm in what one believes in. In this modern day and age, we find so many people getting brain washed by technology and social media that most of thwm have completely lost their self identity.

There's only one of YOU in this entire world. Be the best version of yourself you can possibly be.

11. Which band / artist – dead or alive would play at your funeral?

This Specific Band. This Specific Song.

12. What book, movie read/seen recently you would recommend and why?

I am the ultimate book nerd so this question doesn't seem fair at all.. I will narrow it down to my recent 3 books because I cannot seem to decided between the 3.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho- Since the day I discovered this book, I think I re-read every few months. It's such an inspiring book based on a true story of a young boy in search of his life's purpose.

FB_IMG_1524985447893.jpg

A Thousand Splendid Suns By Khaled Hosseini- A novel centered on two Afghan women.Mariam is an illegitimate child, and suffers from both the stigma surrounding her birth along with the abuse she faces throughout her marriage. Laila, born a generation later, is comparatively privileged during her youth until their lives intersect and she is also forced to accept a marriage proposal from Rasheed, Mariam's husband.

11 Minutes By Paulo Coelho-Based on a true story, this book recounts the experiences of a young Brazilian prostitute and her journey to self-realisation through sexual experience.
