checking Unigine ...

in tyrnannogh •  4 years ago  (edited)

i succeeded in adding at least 20 lines of code this week to the washed-up beach (im on a roll ...) and as said im gonna check other engines for other zones.

If, and when , by 2150 there's any kind of release it should be a nice patchwork , all connected to the same "living wordl" ... which sounds easier than it is i suppose but well

They went to the moon in the 60s ... i shouldnt be discouraged if someone somewhere on the planet still understands actual machine language ...

Something to look up and hold a candle to, not something to give up to "since i'll never be that level" ... that, i feel, is utter k'vatch lol and well, an old fossil like myself who got stuck in hell without a harem to boot

one cat left ...

i have to do SOMEthing and (probably mentioned that several times) of all the things i wanted, i suppose "making a game" is the only one i might still pull off .. moving to Mongolia and a ticket to space

i doubt we'll see that in this lifetime

SO ...at the risk of being misunderstood : i will never like it here in hell and i'll never settle, i'll never forgive it for stealing my dreams and my future and

i will NEVER BE a big-smiled american-positive ... i'm a northern europee-er ... we dont do that shit ... we do cold and gloomy ... frozen over dante ...

not fake smiles

but well ...

its really odd that i never heard of this until recently ... everyone always "unity!" and "unreal potomac!" ... from the looks of it its written and maintained by a team of Russians (the names sounds very russian), the people who took a pencil to space instead of developing a ballpoint pen . The evil ones (after the chinese ofcourse) so maybe that is why its hidden.

My ancient radeon card gave up and i dont really have the cash for an RTX yet so i bought a GT700 to stick in this rig ...

safe to say "unigine is for enthusiasts and industry" is no joke lol - but the possibilities with the physics engine are really amazing when i check out the demos there. (the benchmark program comes at 500 dollar, a subscription comes at 5000 dollar - for companies who made 100k in the previous year, that's the same as unity i think)

Im absolutely new to this so i don't really know what it all is im doing there. The textures look wrong , even 2k or 8k ... its all gonna have to sink in but its like hella-easy to work with (at first) ... it even has demos provided to leave little tiretracks (or in my case i suppose i can do footsteps or horse hooves) but its definitely not made to be run on a low-end machine.

and so ... i wanted to use this for the tunnels since i saw their demo - vid with the truck digging up dirt, however, im not sure how to carve out tunnels in terrain. Im basically not sure about anything other than the fact thats its some epic shit (well ... unigine shit, not potomac-epic ofc ...) not too many libraries, i suppose it's 'fairly young' but the thing that stuck is they claim to be a true 64bit engine (where the others are 32 still mostly) which allows for massive scenes (it says up to the size of the solar system there, planetary scale simulations and what not ... all very impressive

im sure i'll figure it out sooner or later ... the thing where you have 20 masks/layers that can all contain different stuff for the terrain ... it looks SO easy in their tutorial lol

but everything's easy if its what you do on the daily i suppose

this scene is exactly one square kilometer in size, its like "one tile" .... and , ill be busy with that until 2025 i suppose

hm a yea, i actually dont know how todays engines work but i noticed that grass and vegetation can actually consist of real quads, not projected "decals" , however when scanning i couldnt even find where to put the textures lol

time will bring council , i hope ...

and then : mudpits : unity , the forest : unreal

at least i'll know what to do while rotting away :D
