Get an Escape from Uber with These Three Alternatives

So you possibly have uninstalled the Uber app from your phone in the confusion of #deleteUber movement and now you’re finding a replacement, or wondering if you should return to the Uber community or not. Besides the #deleteUber campaign, there must be a wide assortment of reasons to keep your hands off this ride-sharing service for good; maltreatment of drivers and breach in customer privacy lead the list.

Since the company has made people addicted to the convenience of finding the ride in the comfort of their home, many former Uber users have been looking for different alternatives to the app. Some iOS and Android application development companies are developing similar apps, but only a few have reached to the Uber-level of customer engagement.

Mentioned here are some really good Uber alternatives you should give a try to:

Lyft

Everybody knows it as the biggest U.S. Uber competitor with more or less the same features. Just like uber, the app allows you to hail a ride and track it on the map. The rates of both apps usually overlap — sometimes it’s lower than Uber, sometimes it’s higher. Lyft started its first journey voyage on the street of San Francisco and now it has been extended to 300 cities. With giant pink mustaches exhibited on all its cars for brand recognition, Lyft has stepped towards a more subtle approach by using pink lights on the car dashboard.

Lyft pioneered the peer to peer transportation system passengers to offer an affordable alternative to Uber. This allows the customers to always know who they’re sharing their ride with, besides the two-way rating features keeps both riders and drivers on their best behavior.

Uber and Lyft, over the last two years, have been busy fighting for the market shares of the regions they both serve.

Waze Carpool

The driving directions app, Waze is owned by the search engine giant Google. It is a carpool service used particularly for commuting to and from work. Unlike the former app, Waze does not target regular users instead of professional drivers, giving them an opportunity to do some savings while sharing their ride with others. App users can enter their destination and will get notified if there is another user who is heading their way.

The fare is automatically calculated by the app. Still, just because there is no way to find out the credibility of the drivers or have a background check, there exists a room for risks. But! If you know a driver who is credible enough and works near you, you can end up saving a greater share of money and time on the transportation.

GetAround

If you have your driver’s license, GetAround is the app for you. This Peer-to-peer car sharing and rental service allow the users to rent cars on-demand. From Benz to accord, you can find a wide assortment of cars on GetAround and let your idle car pay off on an hourly basis.

Once your car has been added to a Getaround Connect, you just have to set your car’s availability via the app, mentioning the time when your car will not be available for sharing.

The app currently covers some selected U.S. cities, like San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Portland.

Thats it? Only 3 alternatives? There are plenty of other things people can do in this gig economy.

One option that I myself perfer, is to not even transport people at all, only deliver food. I drive for #DoorDash.

That said, there are many other options too. Such as Grubhub, Fasten, Postmates, and Instacart. There are others not mentioned here as well.
