UBER - really a fantastic job (& profits). Really?

NO BOSS? Sure! No money as well...

I got tired hearing those never ending bla-bla-bla , what a fantastic job is this RIDE SHARING job.
Maybe for some people it is. Maybe...
I am not going to argue here all the positives of this job (NO Boss, work whenever you want...etc. etc )
But how much one can earn, after ALL ( I mean literally ALL, all taxes, Uber commission, VAT, fuel, oil, filters, car wash, maintenance, tires, car depreciation, insurance , etc etc) are deducted from your weekly payouts?
Here in our market, the figures are really insane. I built myself a complex excel calculation table, showing me how much is left for my "bread and butter" from a one single ride, depending on how far (km) is rider to be picked up ( horizontal axis), and how long is his ride (km, the vertical axis)
uber_profits_ltu.jpg
As you see, if I drive 5 km to pick the rider, and his ride is also 5km - all I earn (after ALL expenses) is tiny €0,38 or €0,55 for a 6km+7km ride. Think that hunting SURGE times is much better? Yes, sure is better, the same length rides with SURGE=2.2 would be a hefty €2,26 and €3,05 accordingly. The only problem left - rides with SURGE 2+ are less then 3-5% of all the potential rides during the week.
All these calculations are made for my rather economical vehicle, a 4 Year Old Toyota AURIS Hybrid, 1.8L gasoline, which consumes ~5.6-5.8 L/100 in an pure urban cycle. AURIS is more or less the same as a more known Toyota PRIUS, simply a different design car.
So, if you happen to think UBER screws you badly in your area, think again how much you would like to drive for UBER in some East Europe countries.
I was a BIG BIG supporter of UBER, when it was just coming to Lithuania. Have registered the first week when it started. But.... It took me another 10 month just watching, thinking, comparing this oportunity to other alternatives/clones ( TAXIFY, eTAXI). However, the REAL PICTURE I've got only after first 3 month of doing this UBER ride sharing. Real world , as always, turned out to be quite a bit different from the pure theory.

Why are you complaining though? Uber's not screwing anybody. It's still a good gig, but you'll just have to work longer hours. It's your choice to drive with Uber. Don't like their app? Find a better source of income or find your own clientele.

I dont think this is a complain. I just want to point out, that the reality is buried deeply behind many things, which the new comers can hardly figure out (before they start doing all practically). Ant to pin-point those, who are just considering to start this activity - Be ready for surprises !
