Ubuntu Linux

Many people fear Linux, or simply just don't know of it, or are locked in a 'windows world'.But Ubuntu is a fine replacement for MS Windows, no offense Bill Gates. It has the easiest to use UI (user interface), offering many of the features and applications native to windows (MS Word replacement, Excel, easy to use web browsers email, editors, etc.).

This is a far cry from where it started. way back when I was younger, a man named Linus Torvalds started this project. Those first implementations were brutal, for the average user.I can remember spending hours compiling kernels, trying to get them to work on a particular machine (usually 386 and 486 desktops). But I was a computer geek, so I didn't mind, usually. And I learned a lot from these experiences, configuring Linux OS's over and over. But for some years, I went away from it, as my family and friends found it difficult to use, so I ended up putting windows on most of my machines, for ease of use, and kept maybe an old computer around with Linux.

Fast forward to today, and Ubuntu seems like child's play compared to those early days. It is an evolution of Linux into what Linus and others always dreamed of, an easy to use, MS Windows replacement. And Linux runs on so many different devices, it is truly revolutionary (many don't know, but Android OS-which runs on many of todays "smart phones'-is actually a modified version of Linux developed by Google).

So I guess I have two points to this article: 1) To give credit to Linus, for starting this revolution and 2) to encourage people to try something like Ubuntu, which is so easy to use!

(Also, Linux kernels run on my  bitcoin Antminers,so, in a way, Linus also helped to further the bitcoin revolution!).

This is my first ever posting, hopefully I can contribute more detailed and relevant content in the future, just wanted to give  a try.

Linux is everywhere!

Apart from Android, MacOS is also based on Unix (not Linux).

But yeah, Linux is a great desktop OS. The only problem is that the majority of games are still only released for Windows. If that wasn't the case, I would get rid of Windows completely. At the moment, I am dual-booting.

I have no idea what I'm going to do when Win 7 expires, because Windows 10 is a privacy nightmare, and I have no desire to use it whatsoever.
