USADA Confirms TMZ Reports

Initially the only report that said Jones tested positive for turinabol (an anabolic steroid) was the TMZ report. Now we have an official confirmation from USADA that the drug found in Jones's sample was, in fact, turinabol.

What does this actually mean for Jon Jones?

Well it could be very bad news. This substance is from USADA's 2-year suspension list. However, Jon is a second-time offender, which potentially doubles that to 4 years. Things are looking pretty grim to say the least. Jones is 30 years old, imagine him trying to make a comeback at 34. Will he keep training for 4 years, will he stay focused for 4 years. It's just not likely, most athletes would simply retire when faced with news like this.

What a giant loss to the entire MMA community. The GOAT's era is potentially over before it has even begun. Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but any suspension at this point could end his career. Let's hope this is one giant misunderstanding and that hi B-sample will show different results... although that is highly unlikely.

What are the chances Jon Jones could even be banned for life from competition?

I don't think they'd ban him for life, at least not for steroids, the suspension keeps doubling to my knowledge. Now if he gets himself into another hit-and-run like the other one it's hard to say, he may get banned for life.
