Daniel Cormier Meets Derrick Lewis at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 3 at UFC 230

The UFC continues with its craziness. Just after Derrick Lewis took and beating albeit winning with one punch, and saying that he needs to get some cardio before he fights for the championship the UFC books him to fight for the title in just 25 days.

25 days!

Cormier also previously said that he could not fight at UFC 230 due to a hand injury and now he is fine to fight?

How is this happening?

Derrick Lewis got a medical suspension from the NSAC - Suspended until 11/06, no contact until 10/28 due to tough fight.

Granted this is in New York but the UFC usually follows the NSAC recommendations.

This is ridiculous.

what is happening,.. think this is out of desperation since they lost the nate vs poirier fight..?

& stipe gets the 🖕

Maybe if he took his pants off, he’d get a rematch.

Derrick Lewis took 70 head shots & only gets a month to rest. Sounds terrible, but compared to an nfl lineman running about 70 plays on average every week for 16 + weeks & it doesn’t seem as bad comparatively, but we know those nfl brains are fubarred real early on.

I’d be very curious to hear how Derrick Lewis’s brain & body recovery feel after that fight compared to a football game. I’m sure the fight is more difficult, but would love to hear him compare.

This is a head scratcher, while Lewis said he doesn't have the cardio for it and did take a beating I can understand to some extent why he would take the fight. The heavyweight division is unforgiving and anyone can knock anybody out at a moments notice, so if he's got the chance to go for the title he should go for it and will always have that big punchers chance to take it. Plus he may not find himself in contention again.

I don't get why Cormier would agree to it, yes it seems like an easy fight on paper but he has a big money fight on the horizon against Brock Lesnar. If he slipped or got caught by Lewis and was knocked out that Lesnar fight goes away for him. It seems like a massive risk for no reward. Then there is the matter that just a few days ago he told Ariel Helwani that his hand was seriously injured and he couldn't close his fingers to make a fist so it was impossible for him to train grappling or striking.

I prefer it as a fight over the Eubanks Vs Shevchenko fight but it is a weird situation all round.
