MeGregor has been out of the limelight for quite some time. For once the man is being civil and keeping his mouth shut for the most part. His comments on Twitter are a lot more grown-up ever since he got put on the seriously injured reserve but once even a little bit of talk starts heading his way here is always someone that is going to immediately start talking about title shots even though it has been a while since Conor actually beat anyone. I'll sop the nay-syers right there because once again, no, beating Cowboy Cerrone doesn't count...everyone beats Cowboy.

Despite the fact that the Notorious One hasn't done anything worth talking about in years, the mere mention of his name seems to draw in people to talk about titles and shots and honestly, I wish they would stop it. I don't even know how it began but somehow the talk about the first person that McGregor should face when he and his robot leg come back is Michael Chandler.
I would like to see this fight as much as anyone else and I hope that Conor can make it interesting. I like Chandler and feel like he is almost good enough to be the champ himself but he falls just a little bit flat half of the time and doesn't manage to get a "W" out of the deal.

Everyone would like to see this fight: half of them want to see Conor make a comeback in glorious fashion and the other half want Chandler to maybe finally send McGregor packing for good. I dislike Conor a lot less than I used to ever since he started to calm down and act like a real boy instead of always going on the offensive in social media and in press interviews. This attitude seriously worked for his wallet in the past but a lot of people like me turned on him after the arrogance went a bit too far.
Anyway, if the fight happens and I am sure that Dana would really like it to, it would be an absolutely huge fight and perhaps one that once again would break the Pay-per-view sales records. That's all fine and dandy but this fight hasn't even been secured yet and ALREADY there are people out there calling for Conor to get a title shot if he wins this fight against Chandler.
It isn't just random asshats on Twitter either. This comment comes from Michael Bisping of all people.
Bisping has had online spats with Conor in the past that got pretty heated so I don't understand why Mike would be in Conor's corner.... but then I thought about it for a second. Oh that's right... Bisping is empoyed by UFC right now so OF COURSE he would be willing to help pull the hype train.
At the end of the day there is still no one that even comes close to making UFC as much money as Conor did and therefore anything they can do to get him into big fights is going to be something that the UFC wants. Even though Conor is 1-3 in his past 4 fights and again, Cowboy victories don't count, I still think that he should have to prove he belongs here before he gets a title shot. But then again.... these rules don't seem to apply to UFC's 'golden boy" because above all else they love money, not necessarily the sport.
Conor doesn't even deserve a fight with Chandler although it is obviously why Michael Chandler wants it. Fighting and even dominating McGregor doesn't get him closer to gold because the fact that Conor is even near the top 10 at the moment is just a gift from UFC. I suppose we'll have to wait and see what Dana decides to do but come on now, we all know that if there is any chance that UFC could make this happen, they will.
