Visiting Uganda – day 15 – teaching steemit + fazit
Uganda, 2018/04/09, Kiyunga, Vision for Africa
In the morning I slept long, for the first time here, I got up at ca. 8 a.m.
I had a lazy morning and played with some children from my daughters nursery. Even with their runny noses and filled up diapers, they are all cute.
After Lunch we bought something in the pottery and went to the pool.
Then at 16:00 I had my time as a teacher in a classroom with about 25 students. Their teacher has allowed me to tell something about steemit.
In the beginning I introduced myself and after a few words I asked "who has ever heard about blockchain?" to get some feedback where to start. I was a little bit shocked, that no one raised its arm. I asked, if someone has heard about Bitcoin. One woman said "yes". "O.k. Than we have to start from scratch" I thought. But I had max. 30 minutes. So I focussed on two elements:
- Blockchain is the future. Please learn as mutch as you can about it.
- Steemit is a possibility to earn some money. I showed them some posts.
Only one question came back: "How can I withdraw the real money?" I explained, that they need an account at an stockexchange and one in a bank. And I explained, how to use the FAQ-page.
The classroom was very quiet. I can hard imagine, what they thought or understood.
Perhaps some of them register and test it and reproduce the knowledge.
Fazit:
My hollidays here in Uganda are nearly finished. I've seen a lot and got many impressions. I've learned a lot and could see, what my daughter does and how they live here. I saw a poorness, that I've never seen before. But I also learned an easyness, that one find very rarely in Germany.
I'm not sure if I have managed to establish steemit in VfA. But my other goal, to bring some people together to work on steemit is reached. My expectations to find some good and engaged people here is more then fullfilled with Jarau and Yohan.
I talked to a lot of people and some of them registerred in front of my eyes. I could have done more, but I also have to level it with my family and the circumstances.
I think I can also do a little bit from germany (at least, the internetconnection is better there ;-)) – we will see.
