People in most cases don’t leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses
Types of bad bosses
Marionette- These managers play it safe to preserve their position and privileges. They just follow orders, no loyalty to employees.
King Kong- Bosses who reach the top and forget where they came from, superiority complex and like to draw lines between management and staff, don’t build relationships too.
Superman- Think the organization revolves around them, behave like they own the company, sole decision making.
Taskmaster- Focus on the bottom line, suffocate micromanagement, demoralise and kill creativity and as if that’s not enough they don’t treat people with dignity and respect.
Instead of being of being a boss all the time, adjust to be a leader as well and to be a good leader start by being a good follower
- Seek out opportunities to lead
- Adopt behaviours that people associate with leaders
- Show exceptionalism relative to your peers
- Look to advance interests of their groups than personal interests
- Leaders need to be seen as one of us not one of them
- Coaches, supports and inspires his team
- Puts the interests of their team before theirs
- Develop a safe atmosphere – risk taking and feedback is allowed
- Take care of their team, focus to help everyone around them succeed
- Push their team to grow and become their very best
Hope we all create a safe working environment for each other
