What happened to the US being a welcoming country built by immigrants?

I know we are kind of geographically removed from the crisis in Ukraine, but it really is abysmal that the US isn't doing more to take in Ukrainian refugees. We are a big, wealthy country with one of the lowest population densities in the developed world.

This refugee crisis is one of the worst in recent memory. Over 4 million refugees have left Ukraine. Over 10 million displaced by the war.

I hate our refugee and immigration policies in this country. It should be a shining feature of the US. We always talk about being a welcoming country built by immigrants. Virtually all of us are the descendants of immigrants to the US or first generation.

We failed Afghans. I hope we don't fail Ukrainians. Reach out to your representatives.
