OMG!!! I Have Done What She Did! A Relatable "Wotakoi" Moment... (Ulog Day 38)

Something interesting happened today. I saw a random "Wotakoi" clip on Facebook and I remember doing what the female character did. Before I share to you the video, I'll be giving you an overview on Wotakoi.

Wotakoi is an anime which tackles the life of working otaku. There are two different otaku couples in the series, Nifuji and Narumi and Kabakura-senpai and Koyanagi. In the video below, you're going to witness Kabakura and Koyanagi.

I actually tried finding a video clip with English subtitle just like on Facebook, but to no avail.

Anyway, in this video Kabakura ang Koyanagi were discussing various genre because Kabakura noticed that his girlfriend has been buying more BL manga lately. Koyanagi said that every person has his or her taste and Kabakura replied that BL is somehow another story. However, he didn't want to criticize, he was just curious.

Hearing the word "curious" piqued the girl's interest and asked him to read her BL manga. Kabakura was reluctant and didn't want to do it at first, so Koyanagi stated Nifuji as an example. Narumi made Nifuji read a BL manga and he just commented something about the "Dominant guy". Kabakura didn't have a choice, so he asked for a recommendation of a softcore BL manga.

After reading it, Kabakura was touched and thought that BL manga really had a "Shoujo manga" vibe. Lastly, Koyanagi commented how simple her boyfriend is.

When I first watched this episode, I remember a certain person. This person is someone I consider my Japanese best friend. We have been friends for around 3 years now, though we have only met around 3 times in person. I call him by the nickname "Jintan".

He's an otaku like me but of course, he prefers shounen and sports anime/manga. One time, we were having a video chat and he asked me what I want to do when we meet in Japan. I told him, I wanna go to a BL cafe with him (with a very serious face.. lol). He was shocked and kinda looked embarrassed but he agreed because he thought it might be an interesting experience.

We always talk about anime and manga... of course, also about personal life and stuff. I also mention BL stories to him and he willingly listens though he refused to watch or read them. However, I showed him the video above and here's what he said...

As you can see from the video earlier, Koyanagi recommended her boyfriend to read "Hitorijime My Hero". Actually, I already forgot recommending the same manga to Jintan, but he reminded me of it. When I asked him how it was, he said it was cute but he felt embarrassed.

Ahhh~ I wanna see him reading it in front of me. I'd love to see his reactions in person. Hahaha~ Forgive me, Jintan! And when we were chatting earlier, I was actually reading a new BL story and recommended it to him... and guess what? He said he'll check them out!

Waaaa~ He really is the best!!! He's crazy enough to ride on my own craziness! Thanks a bunch! I'm really lucky to have a friend like him. I wanna hang out with him again soon~!!! ^_^

Ahahaha... I do have some Fudanshi friends.. but I want to see him (a straight guy + non-fudanshi) to read BL.. lol~ Please watch it Wotaku: Koi wa Muzukashii or Wotakoi for short... ^^ It's really a feel-good and fun anime especially for otaku like us.. haha ^^

None of my friends are otakus so it's going to be a tough job. Can wait to see it, sounds like fun^^

Ahhh~ I know that feeling... luckily, I found some friends who were into some "mainstream" anime when I was in Uni... and it branched out to other otaku friends.. Most guys from my high school loved anime, though.. ^^ Have fun, imouto-chan! :D
