My oldest daughter has a different dad than the rest of my kids.
And he's not the most responsible father (to her, from what I understand, he is an absolute delight to the rest of his children, biological and adopted).
He hasn't seen her in years, as in more than three although, it could be as many as five. Reason I don't know is because his visits when he is around are sporadic.
He is also behind on child support $26,915.71 USD behind to be exact. His payments are less than $500 USD per month, so it's taken a while to get to this point.
Usually, if I receive some type of support, I leave well enough alone, and let the County of San Diego do its thing. Their enforcement actions include license suspension, bank levies, and any tax refunds are also re-directed.
Sometimes though, when it has been months, I call the child support agency and give them a little nudge.
But first, I do a little bit of Online Stalking
Since he doesn't have any social media accounts, I look at what his wife's posts.
It's silly I know, and it really means, nothing, I also know. On social media we post what we want people to see and not necessarily what is reality.
But still. I look.

It has been about 10 weeks without any payments, and what did I find in the past 10 weeks?
Vacation pictures, Pinterest Boards planning elaborate parties (A Quince party, to be exact), pictures of kids at soccer camps, and even posts of the wife bragging about new name brand shoes.
Just because they are enjoying these things, doesn't mean my daughter's father is paying for them. It doesn't even mean that they are current pictures (hey, people like to pretend), and of course, Pinterest Boards, can be made on a whim, or as a dream board, or even out of sheer boredom. Who knows?
Perhaps the wife is no longer a "Proud Stay at Home Mom" or perhaps, etc, etc, etc. There are infinite possibilities.
I do know one thing though, the guilt of giving the child support agencies a little nudge is non-existent, this time around.
Wow that's almost as much money as my student loan debt :-O!

Ahaha, LOL. That's what I told his wife when she called me (years ago) and asked me to forgive the debt. I told her, when I own a home free and clear and am debt free, we can talk about me forgiving debts, until then, he knew what he was doing when he made the kid (he really wanted that baby) and now he has to help provide food, shelter and education.

It felt like a bad post to write. Kind of one of those that reveals a little more about the author than I would rather let on.
But it makes my sister laugh so much when I do some online stalking that I thought someone else might be entertained too.
I used to be a pushover when it came to getting my daughter's needs met, I was scared. Not any more. Now I want my $$$$$ and don't even care when I am told "all you care about is the money." Because, well, money is important.
The County of San Diego has been very good to me in terms of customer service and such, but they can't force anyone to make payments, someone has to stop paying child support for 6 or more months before they can be found in contempt of court.

Maybe child support tokenization can be something to look at, Imagine if the fathers had bought bitcoinin 20109theyd nevr have to worry about child support payments. We could create pools, 401ks for child support payouts, just throwing out ideas
Anyway its ok very few peopel read steem posts at the moment HOWEVER as price rises we will see peopel coming back. We could also get a major boost of steemit inc releases some new onboarding system or spends a few million steem to create new accounts

It would be amazing if all children could get financial assistance due to some sort of mutual funds.
This is why I am behind the idea of basic income. Why should our government pay for Corporation BailOuts when they could support families directly?
Here in California, we produce enough produce to feed the whole of the US, water is diverted to the "desert" in Central California, we should all benefit from that.
