Mejorar la genética en bovinos. | My day: Improve genetics in cattle.

Right now I am in a farm that sells purebred semen to improve genetics in cattle. I am not very expert in the subject but the experience is worth a lot and it is excellent.

Beyond the reason for the course. Which is obviously artificial insemination, I'm seeing right now as I write this as they take the semen samples from the bulls (pure breeds and mostly weigh more than 900kilos.)

The process is quite simple, they tie another bull called heater to a kind of metal donkey to immobilize it (they can not have cows on this site because the bulls are desperate and it would not be a quiet place for their purpose) then bring to the specimen that they wish Extract a sample, put it to smell, until it mounts 3 times, the last with a plastic vagina with a kind of condom put it on the erect penis of the bull and take the sample, immediately after they take it to the laboratory to clarify it, pack it and freeze it. It should be noted that it is not easy. The bulls to which they want to take the sample have their customs, some have to sing them, others have to pass them, others have to look for 2 heaters.

How am I explaining, right now this Chibolo, a bull of 1,500 kilos that is taking a sample of his semen.

• I am in a room with 15 men, two bathrooms.
• In a very hot plains area (thank God there is air conditioning when the electric service is not going).
• We woke up at 4:30 in the morning
• Breakfast at 5:00 a.m.
• We go to the slaughterhouses looking for cows, we practice.
• We return at 11:00 am, we have lunch.
• We return to practice at 2:00 p.m.
• We return at 6:00 pm and we have dinner at 7:00 and almost at night.

Justamente ahora me encuentro en una granja que venden semen de raza pura para mejorar la genética en bovinos. No soy muy experto en el tema pero la experiencia vale muchísimo y es excelente.

Más allá del motivo del curso. El cual obviamente es la inseminación artificial, estoy viendo justamente ahorita mientras escribo esto como sacan las muestras de semen a los toros (razas puras y en su mayoría pesan más de 900kilos.)

El proceso es bastante sencillo, amarran a otro toro llamado calentador a una especie de burro metálico para inmovilizarlo (no pueden tener vacas en este sitio porque los toros se desesperan y no sería un lugar tranquilo para su propósito) luego traen al especimen que le desean extrar un muestra, lo ponen a oler, hasta que lo monta 3 veces, a la última con una vagina plástica con una especie de condón lo ponen en el pene erecto del toro y sacan la muestra, inmediatamente después la llevan al laboratorio para clarificarla, envasarla y congelarla. Cabe destacar que no es fácil. Los toros a los que desean sacarle la muestra tienen sus costumbres, a unos hay que cantarles, a otros hay que pasarlos, a otros hay que buscarle 2 calentadores.

Cómo estoy explicando, justamente ahorita este Chibolo, un toro de 1.500 kilos que le están sacando una muestra de su semen .

Ahora les voy a explicar mi día en este taller.

• Estoy en una habitación con 15 hombres, dos baños.
• En una zona llanera muy calurosa (gracias a Dios hay aire acondicionado cuando no se va el servicio eléctrico).
• Nos despertamos a las 4:30 de madrugada
• Desayunamos a las 5:00am.
• Vamos a los mataderos buscando vacas, practicamos.
• Regresamos a las 11:00am, almorzamos.
• Volvemos a practicar a las 2:00pm.
• Regresamos a las 6:00pm y cenamos a las 7:00 ya casi de noche.
