23rd #Ulog: At-Home With The Happiest People Of Tacloban

in ulog •  6 years ago  (edited)

City of Smiles ---that is what Tacloban City is most proud of, it is the home of the happiest people. Despite the atrocities that left a holocaust five years ago because of the super typhoon Yolanda, the Taclobanons remain resilient and happy. And it was those qualities that strengthen us to build a more productive city. Today we celebrate the feast day of Senyor Sto. Nino (pronounced as ninyo).

Leyte Park is where comfortable and at-home hotels and function areas are best suited for welcoming visitors.

I felt rather bad that I was not able to do my #ulogging yesterday since I was actually out and busy merry-making with the crowd. Though one thing is for sure, I promise to let you into the merriment too.

The Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival is a merry making that last for almost the whole month of June before the said feast day. Pintados is celebrated through a unique and colorful way. Leytenos are expert when it comes to body tattooing, and some men and women indulge themselves in the creative tattoo designs.

Early June, the city was already packed with people and stalls swarmed the corner streets selling wares, souvenir T-shirts and other crafts.

A day before the feast day, lively dance and drama parade takes place too. Colorful and gigantic floats graced the streets in preparation for the parade of lights. It started as early as 3PM because of the long line of performers who are street dancing as well as the throng of expetators.
