It was a week ago when I started incorporating Dermaroller in my night beauty routine. So today I wanna talk about the procedure, its benefits and my experience.

Derma Roller (or dermaroller) treatment is a type of microneedling treatment that has been taking over the news for a long time already. I can still remember big Hollywood names who mentioned dermaroller and admitted being a big fan of it, such as Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kim Kardashian, Angelina Jolie and other more. Not only has it been proven to work on acne scar tissue (except for keloid scars), it can also improve overall skin tone and texture that's why stars have depended on it. The treatment work on atrophic scars like ice pick, box and and rolling scars, and also hyperpigmentation.

Dermaroller acne scar treatment can be comfortably done at home. I acquired mine from Shopee. I was surprised by its cheap price starting at PhP 200. I initially bought 0.5 mm size of the needle which me and my parents started using, but I have another one coming up size 1.5 mm since I really wanted to focus on my acne scars on my nose. The 0.5 mm works well for my parents, yes including my Dad, who wish to lessen their wrinkles. Many people use it not just for treating acne scars, but also for treating hair loss, stretchmarks, fine lines and wrinkles.

The treatment is very effective for improving the thickness of the epidermis. This is true for the depressed areas of the face caused by too much scarring. By poking microscopic holes in the face, the body’s response is to stimulate collagen production in order to arrange the integrity of the skin.

The best part about dermaroller treatment for acne and acne scars is that it is completely safe for most skin types. There is no post-procedural scarring, redness or other negative side effects. Although in dermatological clinics, some may apply numbing cream prior the procedure. For 0.5 mm, there's no need to worry about the pain because I can say it only feels like little tickles on the face as long as you don't put too pressure while rolling. Dermarolling has an excellent safety profile when used by qualified medical aesthetic practitioners.

The most important thing we have to bear in mind when we do this at home is to sterilize it before and after use for 20 good minutes. It's best advised to do it night so that your face have more time to repair and left untouched. Most people use Vitamin C serum after the treatment which enhances collagen production. It is also advisable to use sunscreen all the time to avoid darkening. I am so excited to make an ulog about the before and after of the 6 months of continuous treatment. We plan to use the 0.5 mm thrice a week and the 1.5 mmm for me will be done once a month.
