This is my mom applying crushed and grounded Paragis (wiregrass or crowfoot grass or goosegrass) to my lolo's (grandfather) knee. His knee is swollen again and it is painful. Even touching it causes him to grimace. He needs to move his leg ever so slowly. He needs assistance standing and walking.

He went home a few days ago and stayed there for two days. He came back home to our house and was complaining of pain in his knee. He said that the 1-year-old daughter of my cousin hit his knee with a toy twice. He was wondering why it caused so much pain because what is the strength of a 1-year-old?

So, Paragis.

This is a wild grass that grows anywhere here in our place. It is a weed that I thought has no use at all. We would uproot this weed when we see it in our yard along with other wild grass and plants that grows in the garden. I remember that I do not like uprooting this weed because it is hard to do so. Its roots are embedded strongly that is why it is hard to remove. You need a digging tool to do so.

Now that we know the benefits of it, we allow some of it to grow.

My mom took a handful of these and washed it. She then grounded and crushed them - stem, root, flowers and leaves. This brings out the juice. She placed it on my lolo's knee and wrapped a bandage around it. She left it there for a few hours. This relieved some of the pain from my lolo's knee.

Paragis can be used also for diabetes, kidney problems, high blood pressure, etc. Check this article for an introduction to this weed.

Thank goodness for herbal medicines. Nature gives us so much more benefits.

This is a photo that I took yesterday.

I went to the bank to do some transactions. I can do it online but I like going to the bank physically because I needed the fresh air and get exercise by walking.

It was raining so hard when I got out of the bank. I had to wait 30 minutes for it to stop before heading on to a place nearby to meet friends. While standing there waiting I noticed this truck loaded with cows. I took a quick snap. Maybe the driver of the car did not anticipate the weather here in the highlands and forgot to put a cover. I can only assume things.

Rain or shine, life goes on.

After the rain stopped, I then met with my friends.

Camping Date is a Korean restaurant where they serve pizza, chicken and some Korean food like samgyeopsal (grilled pork or beef) and Ramyun (Korean noodles). Tents are set up inside
which serves as your dining room. Take your shoes off and sit on sitting mats provided inside the tents. There are tables inside the tents where food is placed. There are some tables too but more are placed outside.

I like their four-cheese pizza here because it is not too salty unlike other pizza stores. That is what we ordered and fries.

They have an ongoing promo wherein you share a photo taken in their restaurant and share in through IG. You may win free ice tea.

Pets are not allowed inside the restaurant. You can leave your pets outside or dine outside.

Camping Date is located at Legarda Road, Baguio City.

Pwede bang ikaw na lang proxy ko hindi ako sanay magsulat ng mga ganyan hehe

Meron din ako nakikita ganyan damo sir.

I wish we used more natural remedies here in the States. I've never seen a restaurant where you eat in a tent, that is neat.

I am a fan of herbal medicine, they are really good. Am using dried guyabano (soursop) leaves to drink as a tea, acapulco leaves to treat skin issues.

Hoping lolo will get well soon. Blessings po!

Rain or shine, life must go on.

So true. Love that.

Paragis... What a name for grass. 😂 That's interesting.

Hala andito pala ako pwede ba maghanap proxy hindi ako sanay sa mga ganyan 😅

Haha! Go na kaya mo yan :D

Hindi kasi uso sakin mga ganyan ganyan you know naman sa foods and numbers lang ako hehe

thanks for tagging me sir.. i missed to add it in my latest ulog post.. i should have read your blog first before publishing it anyways, i'll surely join this challenge.. thanks @mhm-philippines for this!
by the way, its my first time to learn about paragis having a lot of medicinal value

Although we have been using herbs and others plants for medicinal purposes, I still am amazed how much more these other plants have a healing effect.

Thanks for this amazing stories!
The camping side is something I never could have thought about :)

It has a cozy atmosphere to it. Really cool idea :D
