MY Ulog post 3. Parenting Responsibilty

On our way to the new school

It’s a new week, it’s Monday and the school holidays are over. Yeah! I kind of dread every resumption because it comes with a lot of extra responsibility and financial commitments. However, with the right perspective I get to thank God that I got to do this because I know a lot of people are out there seeking for my kind of experience.

This resumption is kind of different because my wife and I had to come to the conclusion that we needed to change our son’s school, having had a lot of complaints with the school he was attending before. We have come to know and understand better as parents to make the right choices for our kids since they are not wise enough to make such choices yet. You would agree with me that after some of us grew up, we kind of stylishly questioned some of the decisions our parents took concerning our lives that perhaps must have taken a negative toll on us.

Former school

So it happens that our son is not given the necessary attention needed and since my wife does a lot of research online about parenting and schooling, we kind of found some abnormalities in the mode in which our son is being thought. It’s quite unfair to have such a high school fees to pay and not get value for your money. In other to profit, schools employ cheap labour to the detriment of the children in their care.

We saw a lot of abnormalities in the school such as the fact that my son’s teacher can’t construct a correct sentence. You are surprised too I guess. We didn’t get to know on time. Oh! It was raised during the parent teacher’s meeting (PTA), and we were shocked to hear the owner of the school say the teacher has some special skills that she could only get in the said teacher and has also been with her since the inception of the school. That sounds sentimental, if you agree with me. That was it, we couldn’t just wait for the school session to end already so we can change him to another school.

Decisions about destiny matters cannot be subjected to sentimental feelings.

Also, we complained that our son doesn’t urinate on his body at home because we use our discretion to take to urinate at intervals. My wife was shocked when she suddenly went our son’s school and found that he was left to roam about without his shorts and panties. That’s so unfair.

It’s important to note that no parent is permitted to get so busy to the extent that you do not know what happens to your kids in school. It’s a height of irresponsibility not to take responsibility for your kid’s welfare.

It wasn’t so hard, finding another school though. Just that we couldn’t find any close to the house as usual. Though it also meant we would have to spend more and our son would also have some hard time blending again with a new environment, but the most important thing is that we have to give our son what is best, so we wouldn’t have to answer some questions when he grows up.

On our way to the new school this morning, my wife was so excited as if she is the one going to school. Hahaha! Having gone to the school earlier to make all necessary inquiries, we did not have to stay so long. Told my wife to just explain some few things to the teacher so I can get back to work. Our son was already playing with the toys when we escaped from the school premises, else it would have been a thug of war. I sure know he was going to cry himself out after he realizes we had gone.

My wife and I just had another word of prayer in the car, committing our son to Gods hand in the new school that there would be great improvement in his development and that the school would really deliver to the best of its ability.

Back to work and the week started on a great note as we have got a new boss who is so awesome and has been making the job quite easy since she got here.
