Altamura (highwall) is a town in PUGLIA, a region of southern ITALY,

Dinosaur footprints dating back to the Cretaceous have been found,
therefore around 80 million years ago, with its 30000 footprints it is the largest field in Europe, these footprints have established that at that time the waterhole was full of the sea and the dinosaurs traveled this muddy terrain.

"the man of altamura" is a skeleton of a homo of nearderthal lived in the middle - lower palaeolithic from 120000 and 180000 years ago, the discovery of the remains of this hominid,
completely random, it was of considerable historical importance as it rewrote what evolution was
of the passage from the homo erectus and the homo of neardethal. these remains
they were found in a cave and still today they can not be extracted from the place of discovery because of the limestone that made the skeleton a one with the rock
the first settlements date back to the seventh century BC of a population called Peucedi, whom they called
the city ALTILIA, which remains are still present in more points of the city
the megalithic walls stretched for about 4/5 km with a height of about 6 meters surrounding the city.
