The policies of the UniCredit banking group prohibit customers from conducting transactions to cryptocurrency exchanges and services. This was announced by a representative of the credit institution on Twitter in response to the claims of one of the Italian customers. The comment sparked an active discussion on Reddit and other platforms.
The client shared a screenshot of the correspondence with the UniCredit Group support service, where he reports that it is impossible to transfer money to FTX or Crypto.com . In response, the support agent recommends that he not do this, since such transfers are a violation of the bank's policies.
"This is not spelled out in the agreement. This is our policy."
A bank employee also warned that accounts used to transfer money to crypto exchanges are subject to closure.
Subsequently, the information in the screenshot was confirmed by the official representative of the bank on Twitter:
"The group's current policies prohibit relationships with counterparties issuing virtual currencies or acting as exchange platforms."
UniCredit Group is the second largest banking group in Italy, but also has representative offices in many countries of Europe and Russia. To what extent the restrictions apply to customers outside Italy, the representative of the bank did not specify.
