This one is a hat trick! Looks like the design allowed for an engine failure (which I assume means a part or jet blast leaving the cowling) to damage a tire.
We shall see if maintenance is to blame, too. What do you call it when it’s four instead of three? Hat +1 trick?
But so far it seems the credit goes to United, not blame, for swift and appropriate action by the cockpit crew. The folks who do this day in and day out really are impressive.
