I have never forced my children to wear shoes, and they usually don't. I love supporting their connection to nature by hiking in our bare feet.
I have always preferred to go shoeless (unless it's super cold out, or now here in Texas if it's too hot to walk on concrete barefoot), and have found my mood is better the more time I spend with my toes touching Pacha Mama.
These are my kids on a large rock in the middle of a creek in Austin, Texas.
Do your toes touch soil every day?
Totally agree. I am walking barefoot about 95% of the time (only in shoes if going for long walks during winter or when on business events) and see my mood being much, much better when being barefoot.
