The following is a short reflection I wrote exactly three years ago today, when I was working in the public school system.
Now that I have been out of that nightmare for awhile, where I watched as kids had their souls sucked out of them, or the attempt made, at least, by the “system” and the zombies who work for it, I am now on the verge of leaving even the kindergartens and preschools where I currently teach, some of which are privately funded.
These last weeks are stretching on like years. I’ve tried to bring a soul, compassion, and energy to the kids, and I have, but ultimately at my own expense. It is too emotionally taxing. The kids need their parents, their communities, and freedom to explore and play. Sadly, in the neurotically fast-paced, fiat currency, war racket, government parasite-funding societies in which we live, these kids are dumped off early, picked up late, and taught in the time between that their interests don’t matter. They are taught that mom and dad and the community, and the sunset, and the sky, and flowers, water, and grass, are just peripheral, largely unimportant characters in a devastatingly boring play called “how to be obedient.”
This play takes place every day at school, and then at home, in the form of homework, as well. These kids are taught furthermore that this thing called “learning” only happens at school, and though it is crushingly boring, should be viewed as exciting and critically important, and that, if they do not view it in this manner, something is wrong with them.

I don't like people reading over my shoulder. I have to (am supposed to) read over people's shoulders every day, while they are trying to focus and think.
You cannot grow a carrot by pulling it up out of the ground to check on it every day.
School often teaches that the things that are actually important to us are unimportant, and the things that we are naturally most interested in are at most side notes, or at the very least, an outright waste of time.
Our own methods of study, seeking knowledge, and play, are then deemed as either distractingly peripheral, or "useless," and we are instead bade, indeed bullied into, the acceptance of a popular myth--namely, that the suppression of our own natural and razor-sharp abilities, and the subsequent trade-in thereof at zero interest for second or third-hand knowledge about matters we are not interested in, is a good thing.
"Knowledge" which is so often passed down to us it would seem from a variety of strangely passionless and benign individuals known as "educators."

It hurts me a little bit every time i take my 4 year old to the kindergarden. He doest hate it anymore, but it saddens me to see how chaotic it is there. And how those who work there seems so out of touch. Ive noticed how they for instance prioritize to talk to the child who hits instead of comforting the child who got hit. Luckily we can afford to have our son at home for the most part. I think 15 hours a week is enough. Unfortunately homeschooling is out of the question. The child protective services would be on your ass immediately. Something must surely be wrong with parents who does not embrace the narrative in the indoctrination camps

Yes, I’ve heard it’s pretty damn bad where you are in regard to actually being able to provide one’s own children with whatever education one deems appropriate. Proof we are viewed as, and literally are, slaves of the state.
Everyone has to do their best where they are. Some, like @markwhittam, get the hell out when child protective services (state-sanctioned kidnappers) come to call. Some cannot. Nobody’s place to judge, really.
Your child has one amazingly important thing going for him, though. A dad who, as far as I can tell, is very conscious and aware, and who is not a statist!
That will go a long way in helping him to not be overwhelmed by the BS they’ll throw at him.
Voluntary on, @scandinavianlife.

Norway. Sure..you can. And if you have rescourses and is someone the state doesnt want to mess with, you could. Its not against the law, like in sweden. But once you proclaim that youre going to homeschool you immediately have to have a relationshio with and report to proper state organs like child psychology services, the chilf protective servuces and of course the school. Youre making things very difficuly for both you and the child. And there is diffucult ti socialise. In norway chuldren 1-6 are in kindergarden for 10 hours. Thats the norm. 50hour weeks. After school they use after school services until parents pick them up at 5. Socialist democracy. It looks good on the surface..once you look more closely..meeh.

That's terrible, my 4 year old goes from 9-11:30 in the morning and that is too much in some ways. Clearly they are breaking down the family unit there.

Oh yeah. Where u from? Well done btw! I wish i was aware of stuff earlier, so i could help my son more. At least were doing what we can. If cryptos continue like this were going to try and move to a "galt sanctuary" somewhere. Hearing rumors about puerto rico

Puerto Rico sucks, it's loaded with Puerto Ricans and has a massive debt, and that was before the storm destroyed what little infrastructure they had. Unless you like listening to bachata 24/7, then it would be great. I live in the US, where you want to go if you want a real anarchist sanctuary is New Hampshire, that's where a man is free to ride a motor scooter on the highway without a helmet while smoking and there are no sales taxes.

Great stuff @kafkanarchy84! We just recently removed my daughter from the public school system and she is now home schooling.
It is working out great so far and she is ahead of schedule for the year already! I will not have her interrogated by a "Principle" and a "police officer" behind closed doors, over statements that a different student made, about a completely different student. Ridiculous, the attitude that they are above the rules and that they own your children. Piss off.

I am so with you on this, schools are there to teach kids how to obey and follow. The majority learn through fear.
They are so capable and are born with such an amazing natural wonder for the world, which just gets extinguished when they go to school, learning is then seen as a chore instead of something amazing and empowering.
I have seen the look of pure joy in my daughters faces when they learn things for themselves.
How can setting our children up for a life in which they always look to others for answers, be in their best interests.
We need strong and confident children who know that the best learning comes from within.
I feel very strongly about this, I do not want my children to become a slave to any system.

Yes, I love that look in my son as well. It is worth more than all the treasure in the world to me. We definitely do need "strong and confident children who know that the best learning comes from within." Once they have that, that's about the best I'd say any parent can do for their kids!
Cheers!

Most so- called modern "Western" societies want their people placid and passive so that they will never question anything and buy what ever goods are advertised. Here in Israel, the want everyone to "buy" into the 'incessant necessity,' of unending wars while the elite class carry away their money.

sounds like Japan has not gotten on board the student led model. Its actually terrible to let kids direct their own learning, they just end up wasting their time and getting into trouble, few teachers are actually skilled enough to keep a whole classroom of kids engaged in a productive manner all doing different things.

Yep, that's why "public" (compulsory) schooling is a joke, there is no way one single person could supply the required resources, meet the emotional needs, and hold the interest of 30-some-odd independent and active human beings with unique minds all at the same time.
As for kids just wasting time and "getting into trouble," nah. You're wrong. A whole litany of firsthand experience, expert research, and scientific study beg to differ.

When kids are not engaged they get in trouble, you know as well as I do that "research" in the educational field is almost all total bullshit. When you look at it then it turns out they are trying to base a policy change on a self report study of 8 middle school kids or that sort of thing. I have seen some teachers who can pull of the self directed thing but most simply can't. Education is one fad after another and the fads are all created by people who hate teaching so they don't have to do it anymore or those who have never taught.

The public schooling system makes it impossible. I agree. But that is not what I am talking about here. Self-directed learning does happen and children are most definitely not by default wasters of time or "troublemakers."

The older I get the more I thought about education in a good manner. When I was student I thought that we SHOULD destroy this school/college/university system. Kids can educate themselves with internet connection.
But now I understand that this knowledge is somewhere, and I must be there in school, study for the sake of time passing. pass my time and learn something. I waste my time but I survived.
Now I know that most kids can't learn something by themselves. It's almost impossible. We should teach them. Yes, school teach shit, but it's not their work to make you smart and successful. They only need to throw you from 6 years old to 22 years old age.

Probably because they are taught from the beginning of their lives to obey and don't ask "stupid" and uncomfortable questions. Sure, many people are incapable of being independent but it is probably the consequence of the existing personality-crushing institutions.

How do kids learn to walk? To speak their native tongue?
Why do they need to waste 12 years of their lives when they could learn on their own volition either at voluntary schools of their choice, or at home and from community members, at a rate exponentially faster and more efficient?

Oh no, my comment is ANTI school system, but something in me say that I had something. It wasn't waste of time, because it was a time when I should waste my time. Some brain functions weren't developed.
Now I am in struggle, because no one taught me how to make money. Now I am in struggle because no one taught me how to learn.
SORRY, WE NEED TO DESTROY SCHOOL SYSTEM.
GOVERNMENT SHOULD INVEST INTO FREE INTERNET COURSER for those who want.
