Snoring a condition that can be avoided and treated

Welcome to my blog today fellow steemians I have been pondering on what to write in other to add value to your lives that is why I have not been very active in recent days.

Yesterday while trying to sleep I couldn’t because of the loud noise coming from my friend who was sleeping beside me it was like where you kick started a bike with a leaking exhaust. The sound continued, and it was a problem for me because I find it difficult to sleep when there is noise around most especially when someone is snoring. Talking about snoring today am going to delve a little into the topic to help alleviate some stress from those who pass through the stress of been told that they snore at night.


Snoring is a sleeping disorder caused by vibration of the tongue and throat tissue due to obstruction of the airways some could be due to little air obstruction, but some also could be due to a condition called OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). So, when one snore habitually a medical doctor should be consulted for diagnosis.


Symptoms

The common symptom of snoring at least is very common. Loud vibrating sound made during sleeping cannot be mistaken. Nevertheless, we still have other symptoms these includes:

• Often night Urination
• Sleeping excessively during the day
• Headaches in the morning
• Loss of breath leading gasping for air during sleep
• Concentration difficulty
• Depression and irritations.


Causes of Snoring

There are a lot of causes to snoring but am going to summarize the into three with their key indicators.
• Extra Tissue In The Throat: Air is passed from the nasal airways through the throat if there are bulky throat tissues it could cause snoring. Some of the causes of bulky throat tissue includes obesity, pregnancy and genetic factors
• Nasal Disturbance: Whatever that can hinder a person from breathing through the nose can cause snoring this includes allergies, congestion and in some cases certain nasal structure.
• Relaxation Of The Throat Or Tongue Muscle: When the throat or tongue muscles are relaxed there is high tendency it leads to snoring. Alcohol is a very good throat and tongue muscle relaxer so also are some medication. Smoking when prolonged can also cause relaxation of muscle in ageing individuals. Alcohol.jpgSource


Treatment

Basically, the treatment methods of snoring Is tactically doing the opposite of the causes that were earlier stated I would further state some treatment methods below

  1. Avoid Alcohol and medications that are sedative
  2. While sleeping it is important that you change sleeping position
  3. Exercise to lose weight would help
  4. The use of some oral appliance to open airways
  5. Recently Oral (oropharyngeal) exercise helps in relieving snoring
  6. Quit every form of smoking
  7. Recent development has surgery and singing exercise as remedies. This I am going to discuss in my subsequent articles.

Even though about 70% of snoring is hereditary it is relieving to know that it is treatable

My bro you know the feeling. Sleeping around a snoring person is like sleeping with horn speakers on your ear
