hello wonderful steemians, recently, i started a self-taught tutorial on website designing using the HTML and CSS codes. i have always wanted to be a programmer/website designer but one or two circumstances keeps taking up my time.
However, recently, i took courage to start my journey of becoming a website designer. But before i share what i have learnt so far, i will like to talk about the internet.
According to webopedia, the internet is defined as:
A global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardised communication protocols.
As we all know the world is a global village and basically, everything now is done on the internet. The advent of internet has facilitated and made everything easier.
However, one may ask what and how people access the internet?
Browsers;
Web users access the websites using a software called web-browsers like;
Chrome, safari, opera, internet explorer, Firefox. However, for users to be able to view a web page, they will have to type-in a web address into their web browser, use a bookmark or follow a link from another site. New versions of web browsers are released regularly by Software manufacturers to add new features to the web browser.
Web Servers;
When web users wants to visit a web page, the request is being sent across the internet to a web server (a special computer) which hosts the website. web servers are special set of computers always connected to the internet which are used to send web pages to people who request them. Big companies or corporations usually run their web servers themselves, however, small and medium companies uses the services of a web hosting company which charges them to host their website.
Devices;
web users can access the websites using the following devices; Mobile phone, laptops, tablets and desktop computers. it should be noted that these devices has different screen sizes and some also has faster internet connections than others.
You may ask how website are created? Here's how!
when you log-in to a website, the web browser will receive HTML and CSS from the web server that is hosting the website. The HTML and CSS, when accessed by the web browser, creates the web page that you will see. It should be noted that web pages might include other contents like video, animations,audio or image.
Small websites are usually written using HTML and CSS, while Larger and bigger websites (those using blogging tools, e-commerce software or content management system (CMS)) are written using programming languages like ASP.Net java or PHP ETC.
Now, lets take a look at what i have learnt so far in my HTML and CSS self-taught tutorial;
To start with coding in HTML and CSS, i downloaded a software called Notepad++ with which i will be coding with.
below is what is have learnt so far:
and when i run on the browser, i got
So, in my next post, i will be writing the HTML codes step by step.
