Upcoming Games for 2019

New games are always coming out with some more highly anticipated than others. Do you remember when Tom Clancy’s The Division was anticipated? It was hyped for a few years, pushed back, held off, and then it came out with a lot of fanfare and a lot of fan disappointment as well. It was a shame that the game didn’t live up to its hyped potential in the beginning. However, after about a year and a half being out, they are coming out with more and more updates to make it what they said it was supposed to be. But then again, only time will tell.

And that’s the basis for this list. There are of course games already being talked about for 2019 and we still haven’t gotten through the first half of 2018 yet. More than likely, some of the games that are being given a release date in 2018 will inevitably be pushed back because of “creative differences” or whatever they want to consider the reason it’s coming out late. But whatever the case may be, let’s focus on the ones that they say are supposedly coming out in 2019 as of right now.

Psychonauts 2

A game that amassed a great following when the first version came out over a decade ago. A 3D adventure, the main character Raz, runs and mental mindscapes ripe for exploration. This game will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
In the Valley of Gods

A PlayStation exclusive, this is the second game from Camp Santo. A first person game set in Egypt in the 1920’s, you follow Zora, an excavation adventure and you are the videographer. You’ll get to see pyramids set in a historical time. It’s slated to be a great game.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

To be released on Xbox One and PC, this game comes a few years after the original Ori and the Blind Forest which, if you have played it, is beautifully done, thoughtfully crafted and keeps the player hooked for the next puzzle, the next adventure. So knowing this 2D game is getting a sequel is refreshing news. If you haven’t played the first, then get on that so you are ready fo the beauty that this one will be as well.

The Last of Us Part 2

Another PlayStation exclusive, this one delves back into the likes of Joel and Ellie, five years later. They are still living in a post-outbreak environment but other than that, we don’t know much. Ellie however is angry in the trailer, but everything else is pure speculation. 2019 is a god estimation as to when it could come out but like the others, it can be held back as it’s reportedly still in development.

While many of these games are still in development, they have a good potential to be the next releases for 2019, ones that will continue to hold a strong fan base. I for one am excited about the next Ori. I think I know where my weekend will stand and pick that back up to get ready.
