Project Update: we-resist-bot

in update •  7 years ago  (edited)

There are some new changes coming down the pipe. It's clear that going forward, the standard small, single-page app approach isn't going to work. New tools are being developed all the time. The bot is so much more than just a bot anymore. Looking toward the future, here is what we have:

Current Development

Dashboard

This is a mock of what we are currently developing which is a resister dashboard. This is mostly so resisters can analyze their own curation. Manage their voting while still also managing their own content. There are several features here including

Bot Preferencess

  • Rules engine-driven approach to voting. Your bot votes for you and you can configure it according to some pretty sophisticated rules
  • Curation workflow (aka vetting) is where users can manage their own blacklists and invite others to their own curation. It allows you to easily build collaborative ways to curate content and monitor the progress of your curation.

Reports

Here we wanted to give resisters the ability to create reports that help them curate content. Here are some reports coming in:

  • Account History
    • Analyze users account history by operation and/or block. Content can be filtered contextually depending on the operation. Also, filter by date range. Reports can be paginated or infinitely scrolled.
  • Abuse Reports
    • Analyze voting behavior of users
    • Analyze content creation of users
    • Identify downvote abuse

Technical Details

The dashboard is being developed as a single-page VueJS application. We're using serverless architecture design.

Roadmap

Stuff not actively developed, but coming

  • More reports for abuse
  • Reports as gif
    • This will allow old posts to still be current because they point to a gif that is dynamically generated.

Great project. Best of Luck!

Nice project, glad I stumbled across it this morning.

@r351574nc3, Upvote for supporting you.

Hey @ r351574nc3, great post! I enjoyed your content. Keep up the good work!
It's always nice to see good content here on Steemit! Cheers :)

I am curious if there are posts on Steemit that talk about the types of voting abuse your bot can help to identify. As a less technical user, it would be super helpful to have a rundown post descrbing ligitamate uses vs abuses of the voting system and bots. Perhaps I need to write one if it does not exist :)

Well, types of voting abuse we're aiming for right now are:

  1. Downvote abuse (malicious attacks on content creators for purposes other than curation)
  2. Self-voting (whales that self-vote strip the pool of rewards for minnows. This is especially the case if whales are self-voting unrelated comments and the like)

Self-voting is a slippery slope, but in most cases it's cool. Where it gets abusive is when your take from the reward pool is like $3000/week for self-voting comments. That's pretty bad.

There are a lot of bad actors in the system right now. Reporting helps us to identify them, linked accounts, and other abusers working in the same group.
